Pfizer colleagues at the Kirkland head office have been taking steps towards prioritizing a healthy lifestyle in and out of the workplace.
Pfizer Canada is proud to offer its colleagues a workplace health and wellness program, VIVA, that has been established for over 15 years with the main goal of encouraging head office colleagues of any fitness level to be active.
According to a study performed by Aflac, a Fortune 500 company, providing financial protection to more than 50 million people worldwide, “among employees offered a wellness program, 61 percent of employees agree that they’ve made healthier lifestyle choices because of their company’s wellness program.”1
Prior to recent COVID-19 events and subsequent changes in working conditions for head office colleagues, the program consisted of access to onsite facilities such as various fitness classes like CrossFit, spinning, Zumba, yoga, as well as access to installations such as an aerobics room, a cardio space, a spinning room and a weight training room. In addition, colleagues benefited from onsite services such as kinesiologist and nutrition coach to help them attain their personal health goals.
Today, the VIVA health and wellness program continues to offer colleagues a variety of virtual health and fitness classes and on demand remote consultations with a Pfizer dedicated kinesiologist and nutrition coach. Also, virtual conferences related to wellness topics such as motivation, ergonomics and sleep are offered to support colleagues’ new “Working from Home” realities.
By implementing the addition of virtual services, the workplace wellness program has expanded to be available to Pfizer Canada colleagues beyond the office located in Kirkland, Quebec, but to all colleagues across Canada. “We are proud to be able to provide colleagues the support they need to focus on their wellness and continue to be physically active regardless of their location,” says, Rhonda O’Gallagher, VP of Corporate Affairs.

The VIVA health and wellness program enables colleagues to lead a healthy lifestyle and provide them with tools to better manage their energy levels and prioritize a balanced lifestyle. Thanks in part to this program, Pfizer Canada has been recognized as one of Montreal’s top employers of 2020.
