Bringing Hope & Healing to the World’s Most Vulnerable Communities: Pfizer Canada’s Powerful Partnership with HPIC

August 16, 2023

Did you know that, according to the United Nations, at least 50% of people across the globe lack access to essential healthcare services?

Since 1994, Pfizer Canada has partnered with Health Partners International of Canada (HPIC) – a humanitarian not-for-profit relief and development organization – to try and help address this challenge.

HPIC strives to improve access to medicine and enhance health in developing countries, and at Pfizer Canada, we donate millions of dollars in medicines each year to help make that happen. For nearly 30 years, Pfizer Canada’s donations have been used for humanitarian kits and humanitarian missions to help save, enhance and protect lives in the world’s most vulnerable communities.

“Meaningful and collective partnerships are the essence of why HPIC can provide dignified healthcare services and essential medicines to people living in poverty, victims of conflict or war, or of a natural disaster,” says HPIC’s President Lois Brown. “Today, on World Humanitarian Day, we acknowledge the humanitarian work and efforts of Pfizer Canada to our everyday operation and mission.”

At Pfizer Canada, we wholeheartedly believe in HPIC’s mission. It brings us joy knowing that our medicines are providing hope and healing to underserved populations.

Anne-Marie St-Pierre, Associate on Pfizer Canada’s Global Health and Social Impact team shares that “at Pfizer, one of our main values is Equity and there is no better way to make it real than to support HPIC's mission and donate products that could make a difference to underserved populations all around the world. We particularly appreciate our valuable partnership with HPIC as well as their team’s dedication in extending access to our medicines globally.”

HPIC is the only Canadian organization licensed to export these medicines to other countries, and Pfizer Canada is proud to be part of their story.

“Pfizer Canada and HPIC share deep roots,” says Brown. “Together, we are committed to the health and well-being of people in need.”

According to HPIC’s president, “our priority to make a lasting change in improving health will remain the core of our work.”

Thank you to HPIC for the vital role they play in providing medical care and access to medicines to the most vulnerable people around the world.
