New treatment for moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause is now available to Canadian women

April 10, 2017 – KIRKLAND, QC – Pfizer Canada is pleased to announce that DUAVIVE (conjugated estrogens/bazedoxifene), a therapy indicated for women with a uterus for the treatment of moderate-to-severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause, is now available in Canada[i].

Menopause is the moment when a woman has had no menstrual period for 12 consecutive months. Every woman experiences menopause differently. Menopause can bring vasomotor symptoms caused by fluctuating hormones, such as night sweats and hot flushes.[ii]

In Canada alone, over 5 million women between the ages of 45 and 65, have gone through or will soon go through menopause.[iii]  The average age of menopause in Canada is 51.[iv] According to the Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada, up to 80% of women claim to suffer from at least one menopausal symptom including mood swings, irritability, interrupted sleep, hot flushes or vaginal dryness.
