WHAT PERSONAL INFORMATION IS COLLECTED BY PFIZER CANADA? 

Personal information is information about you that identifies you as an individual, for example, your name, address, e-mail address, or telephone number. 

Generally, you are not required to register to access Pfizer Canada's Sites; however, you may be asked to provide personal information when you visit certain sections of Pfizer Canada's Sites. We also collect information that you voluntarily provide to us through registrations, applications, responses to surveys, search functions, questionnaires, feedback, Tell Your Story forms and similar features. On some of Pfizer Canada's Sites, we offer health assessment tools that ask you to provide self-assessment information. You may also be asked to provide additional information such as your e-mail address if you want to obtain additional services or information, participate in a contest or to resolve complaints or concerns. Healthcare providers may choose to provide information relating to their specialties and professional affiliations. 

From time to time, we may use or augment the personal data we have about you with information obtained from other sources, such as public databases, social media platforms and other third parties. For example, we may use such third party information to confirm contact information, to verify licensure of healthcare professionals or to better understand your interests by associating demographic information with the information you have provided.

If you submit any personal data relating to other people to us, you represent that you have the authority to do so and to permit us to use the information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. 

HOW DOES PFIZER CANADA USE PERSONAL INFORMATION FROM ONLINE VISITORS? 

We use your personal information to:

  • Deliver our products and services; 

  • Process, complete and fulfill your requested transactions; 

  • Provide customer service and respond to requests or inquiries;

In particular, we may use information gathered about you for the following purposes: to monitor interest in our range of products and to assist us to tailor the content of Pfizer Canada's Sites to your needs by collecting information about your preferences through tracking of pattern page views on Pfizer Canada's Sites; to create a profile relating to you in order to show you the content that might be of interest to you and to display the content according to your preferences. 

Promotional and Informational Offers 

If you ask us to, we will use your personal information to send information for marketing and promotional purposes. This information may be sent by e-mail if you have given separate consent to receive information in this way. If you later change your mind about such use for any reason, you may withdraw your consent to that use, either by contacting Pfizer Canada as set forth below or where applicable by modifying the registration information provided. 

We sometimes work with service providers in order to provide you with the products or services that you have requested. These service providers are required to comply with this Privacy Policy when using your personal information. 

To Connect You with Third Parties 

We may provide functionality on the Site that will allow you to forward and share certain content with a friend or colleague. If you choose to use Pfizer Canada sharing functionality to refer someone to our content, products or services, we will use your data and that of the individual you are sharing with to send the content or link you request. 

In addition, we may offer access to third party sharing functionality, such as third party social media widgets/tools/buttons. If you use that functionality, your use is subject to the third party’s privacy policy and terms. As with all links to non-Pfizer Canada websites/content/services, we recommend that you read the privacy policies and terms associated with third party properties carefully. 

To Validate Your Ability to Access/Use Certain Products, Services and Information 

Some products, services and information we offer may only be suitable for/accessible to individuals meeting certain eligibility or other criteria. In such cases, we may verify that you meet such criteria. For example, certain information relating to our products is only intended for and accessible to licensed healthcare professionals and we may use information we collect directly from you and from outside sources to validate your licensure and eligibility to view such information. 

In Accordance with Special Program Terms 

On occasion, Pfizer Canada may offer special programs, activities, events or promotions via the Site (“Special Programs”) that have specific terms, privacy notices and/or consent forms that explain how any personal data you provide will be processed in connection with the Special Program. We strongly suggest you review the terms applicable to the Special Program before participating. 

To Improve Products and Services and Protect Patients and Consumers 

We use the information you provide for data analysis, to better understand how our products and services impact you and those you care for, to track and respond to concerns, for fraud prevention and to further develop and improve our products and services. In addition, we use the information you provide to comply with our regulatory monitoring and reporting obligations including those related to adverse events, product complaints and patient safety. 

WHEN DOES PFIZER CANADA SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION? 

Pfizer Canada will not disclose personal information that you provide on its Sites to any third parties except: i) in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy, ii) to comply with legal requirements such as a law, regulation, warrant, subpoena or court order, and/or iii) if you are reporting an adverse event/side effect relating to one of Pfizer Canada's products, in which case Pfizer Canada may be required to disclose such information to bodies such as, but not limited to, Canadian and/or international regulatory authorities.  

We may share personal information with other affiliated Pfizer companies. and we may share information with our co-promotion partners, and companies working with Pfizer Canada for purposes that you have authorized, but all information we share will always be protected under the terms of this Privacy Policy.  

Pfizer Canada will disclose and/or transfer personal information to another company in the event of a proposed or actual purchase, sale (including a bankruptcy, liquidation, realization, foreclosure or repossession), lease, merger, amalgamation or any other type of acquisition, disposal, transfer, conveyance or financing of all or any portion of Pfizer Canada or of any of the business or assets or shares of Pfizer Canada or a division thereof. We will share your personal information with such company and will require such company to use and protect your personal information consistent with this Privacy Policy. We may disclose personal data to companies that were formerly wholly or partly included in the Pfizer family of companies to which we provide services during a transition period following separation. 

We may retain other companies and individuals to perform services on our behalf and we may collaborate with other companies and individuals with respect to particular products or services (collectively, “Providers”). Pfizer may also disclose aggregate or de-identified data that is not personally identifiable to third parties for any purpose. 

COOKIES

Pfizer Canada, like many web site operators, may use standard technology called "cookies" on its Sites. Cookies are small data files that are downloaded onto your computer when you visit a particular web site for the web server to reference during the same or subsequent visit to the website. We use this information to better understand, customize and improve user experience with our websites, services and offerings as well as to manage our advertising. For example, we use web analytics services that leverage these tools to help us to understand how visitors engage with and navigate the Sites, e.g., how and when pages in a site are visited and by how many visitors. Pfizer Canada cannot control, and is not responsible for, the communications you may receive when you participate in such communities. 

PROTECTION OF CHILDREN ONLINE 

Pfizer Canada considers the protection of children's privacy, especially online, to be of the utmost importance. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children nor do we knowingly allow them to become registered users of, or to request information through, Pfizer Canada's Sites or help-seeking information lines. 

ADDITIONAL TERMS FOR CERTAIN WEBSITES 

The following additional information applies to Pfizer Canada's Sites that require registration. Generally, you are not required to provide personal information as a condition of using Pfizer Canada's Sites, except as may be necessary to provide you with a product or service that you have requested. However, some of Pfizer Canada's Sites are restricted to certain individuals such as healthcare professionals or patients who have been prescribed one of Pfizer Canada's drug products; these individuals may be required to register upon entry to such Sites by providing us with certain information.

Our Commitment to Security 

We have put in place physical, technical/electronic, and procedural/managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access to personal information, maintain data security, and use the information collected online for authorized purposes only. Pfizer Canada applies security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, such as retaining information in secure facilities and making personal information accessible only to authorized employees on a need-to-know basis.

STORAGE OF INFORMATION 

Personal information you share with us is stored on our database servers at Pfizer data centers (in whatever country they may be located), or hosted by third parties who have entered into agreements with us that require them to observe this Privacy Policy. We have implemented technological measures to prevent individuals from accessing information without authorization. Data centers are designed to be physically secure and protected from unauthorized access by unauthorized persons. Information is stored for as long as is necessary to fulfil the purposes for which the information was collected and to comply with legal requirements.
