Research & Development: Collaborating to Give Hope

Pfizer Inc.'s purpose is to innovate to bring therapies that significantly improve patients' lives. R&D is at the heart of fulfilling Pfizer's purpose as we work to translate advanced science and technologies into the therapies that matter most.

We focus our efforts in core areas where we believe Pfizer is best positioned to bring unique therapies to patients including chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, vaccines, oncology, neuroscience and pain, cardiovascular and metabolic disease, rare diseases, and biosimilars. Many of these research areas are being studied in Canadian clinical trials.

We know that it takes more than just great science to deliver meaningful new therapies. Our approach is to collaborate in new and dynamic ways with academic scientists, patient foundations, governments, other biopharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals. Partnerships/Alliances

Alberta - Pfizer Translational Research Fund – Innovative research in area of unmet needs with potential for commercialization.

Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD) – Pfizer-CDRD Innovation Fund aims to fast-track commercialization of promising academic research projects in British Columbia.

MaRS Innovation – Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research partnership to advance early-stage technologies related to human health in therapeutics and diagnostics.

CQDM – Founding partner in Consortium Québécois sur la Découverte du Médicament (CQDM) to help develop breakthrough tools and technologies that facilitate potential new drug discovery and development.

NEOMED – Partnership with Québec government to create NEOMED Institute to help bridge academic research and life sciences companies as well as to create synergies within biotech industry.
